Identerati, n (collective noun)
the set of all individuals who participate in forums and conferences about identity
Identerati refers to the wider community of people who gather around the subject of identity through forums, conferences, panels, and industry conversations. They shape how identity is discussed, designed, regulated, and deployed across the digital world. In an Authenticity Alliance context, the Identerati matter because identity is not just a technical issue, it is the foundation of accountability, privacy, and trust online. The problem is that too much of the identity conversation has been influenced by Silibandia’s interests, where identity becomes a tool for surveillance, extraction, and control. The challenge for the Identerati is whether they will reinforce that model or help build a better one. At its best, the Identerati can help move the digital world toward accountable anonymity, user ownership, and systems that serve people instead of exploiting them.
